Since its launch in September 2009, the Outremer 49 has proven to be extremely popular amongst those who enjoy going on long voyages and make up the yard’s traditional clientele.

The boat’s success hasn’t gone unnoticed by the journalists either, who awarded her the title of European Yacht of the Year 2010. True to the high performance character of the Outremer catamarans, the 49 confirmed this pedigree during the latest Outremer Cup, by winning one race and regularly finishing in the top three. At the request of a clientele keen to push this advantage even further in terms of speed, Outremer Yachting set about with the construction of a ‘Sport’ version, which will be unveiled at the next Cannes boatshow.

Developing what is already a light, stiff platform which has a powerful sail area, combined with the desire for increased speed, the Outremer 49 Sport manages to maximise each and every area of performance: – Improved hydrodynamics (flush seacocks, high performance rudders…)

• Rationalised accommodation
• Carbon mast, Kevlar shrouds
• Incidences sails in D4 sailcloth
• Teflon antifouling

The complete optimisation has lead to a weight saving of over 1,000 kilos in relation to the classic version and that’s without touching either the legendary structural solidity of the Outremers, or the appealing comfort of the standard 49.
